She holds a Master Equivalent (diploma) of Biology from University of Cologne, Germany and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Genetics from Michigan State University, USA. Her research interests are gene regulatory networks and transcription factor binding (crops, Arabidopsis thaliana, liverworts, algae); regulation of photosynthesis in adverse conditions; systems biology analyses and synthetic reconstruction of valuable traits in orthogonal systems (i.e. C4 and CAM photosynthesis).
