![]() Location of Event:Other Cost:Free Contact Email:gdrakakaki@ucdavis.edu Event Type:Free Events, Lectures and Seminars Presented by:College of Biological Sciences Sponsored by:Plant Biology Graduate Group Speaker: Marcela Rojas-Pierce, Associate Professor, Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, North Carolina State University Dr. Rojas-Pierce received her B.Sc. in Biology at Universidad the los Andes in Bogota, Colombia and her Ph.D. at the University of California-Riverside in 2003. She then completed her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Natasha Raikhel at UC Riverside before joining the faculty at North Carolina State University in 2008. She is an Associate Professor and Associate Department Head of the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at NCSU. Dr. Rojas-Pierce’s research is focused on the cell biology of cellular organelles with a focus on vacuole biogenesis and fusion. Her current research is studying the function of protein complexes that mediate vacuole fusion in stomata and understanding the relationships between these complexes and the signals that regulate stomata opening. Her lab is also developing tools for control of protein function in plant cells and studying the role of vacuoles and other organelles in gravity perception in plants Via Zoom - ucdavis.zoom.us… |
