Speaker: Dr. Monique Messie, Research Specialist at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI)

About the Speaker:

Monique Messié has been working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) since 2007, first as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate, and since 2014 as a research specialist. She has a PhD from the University of Toulouse, France, and also recently worked at the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanography in Marseille, France, on a European fellowship.

Her research combines satellite products, models and in situ data to study ecosystem processes and physical/biological interactions in the coastal and open oceans, from local to global scales. She seeks to understand how physical forcing shapes marine life, from phytoplankton to ecosystems.
