The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art presents two exhibitions during fall quarter:

  • Bruce Nauman: Blue and Yellow Corridor — The artist conceived of this participatory environment in 1970 (four years after receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from UC Davis), and now Blue and Yellow Corridor has been built for the first time — a narrow passageway that wraps around an existing room, combining colored fluorescent light and closed-circuit video to manipulate the viewer’s perceptual experience. Other Nauman works are also on display. Sept. 27-April 14 (held over).
  • Irving Marcus: Romance & Disaster, A Retrospective — Vibrant and intensely personal paintings alongside works on paper, by an artist considered part of the extended UC Davis art community. Curator: Rachel Teagle, the museum’s founding director. Sept. 27-Dec. 30.
The Fall Season Opening Celebration will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. The program will include curator talks at 5:30 p.m.: Ted Mann for the Nauman exhibition and Rachel Teagle for the Marcus exhibition. The celebration also will include music by Munechild, refreshments and self-portrait making.

Regular hours: noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; noon-9 p.m. Thursday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
