Resident raptors include two new owls: Tadita, a barred owl; and Ember, our first barn owl education ambassador in six years. Many of raptor center’s ambassadors will be “on the glove” — out of their enclosures, resting on handlers’ hands — so you can see the birds up-close. Presentations at 10 a.m. and noon on fascinating features of raptor biology and ecology. Cameras welcome, but no flash, please. The museum and gift shop will be open. The open house is free, but donations are welcome (and tax-deductible) to help provide care and feeding of resident raptors, underwrite education programs, provide medication and medical supplies for rehabilitation, and maintain this unique center.

Small bites and beer, noon-2 p.m.: Appetizers and nonalcoholic beverages (Three Ladies Café); and, for visitors 21 and up, beer tasting (Super Owl Brewery).
