This one-day class will familiarize participants with grass morphology and terminology. We will dissect a range of common weedy and native grasses found in California, and we will key out grasses, using the grass keys in the 2012 Jepson Manual as well as handouts and summaries of the keys.

Students will dissect grasses in a laboratory, using dissecting microscopes. If students own a Jepson Manual, they should bring it. We will have extra books on hand, although students may have to share. Dissecting tools will be loaned out.

Contact Ellen Dean, eadean@ucdavis.edu, to register; or register at the calendar item here.
