Three speakers, a film and a panel discussion comprise the UC Davis Polar Forum's inaugural event. The forum, an initiative of the John Muir Institute of the Environment, brings together polar research from across UC Davis.

The speakers include:

  • Fran Ulmer, chair, U.S. Arctic Research Commission - "The Rapidly Changing Arctic: Why Does It Matter?"
  • Steven C. Amstrup, chief scientist, Polar Bears International; and adjunct professor, University of Wyoming - "Current and Future Challenges Facing Polar Bears - and What They Mean to the Rest of Us"
The program also includes a screening of Between Earth and Sky, presented by the executive producer, David C. Weindorf, associate dean of research, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Texas Tech University.
