Sid England’s fascination with birds began in an undergraduate course at UC Riverside, extended through his Ph.D. in ecology at UC Davis, and has since led him around the world in pursuit of their beauty and their unique behaviors. Sid will introduce us to the broad range that exists in avian biodiversity, illustrating his talk  with photos of both birds and astounding animals, and he will share some of the “interesting” adventures and cultural experiences he’s encountered while birding in far-flung lands (and some not so far away).

Sid England, Ph.D., managed UC Davis environmental and sustainability programs for 27 years, retiring as an assistant vice chancellor. He has served on the boards of Audubon California, International Crane Foundation, and Yolo Audubon Society, and taught introductory birding classes with UC Davis Extension for 17 years.

Social time at 11:30 a.m. Bring a brown bag lunch if you like; coffee, tea and cookies provided. Program begins at noon. Retirees: Be sure to use your RT parking permit. No preregistration.
