Family-friendly event, open to all — especially new students as they arrive on campus during move-in weekend (Sept. 23-24). "Insects and U" will focus on how to study insects at home and in school, at any age. Undergraduate advisor Brandy Fleming will be on hand to talk about classes and careers and fun with entomology. Cabbage white butterflies will be featured.

The world-renowned insect museum houses a global collection of nearly 8 million specimens, and maintains “petting zoo” with walking sticks, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, praying mantids and tarantulas. The museum also has a gift shop, featuring T-shirts and sweatshirts, books, jewelry, posters, insect-collecting equipment and insect-themed candy.

Regular hours: 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
