Members of the North American Forensic Entomology Association will be special guests and presenters at this open house, which comes amid the association's July 7-12 conference at UC Davis. As an outreach activity, members of the association will field questions throughout the open house.

As always during a Bohart open house, the program will include family arts and crafts — so get ready for maggot art on July 9! Maggots are dipped in nontoxic, water-based paint and placed on “canvas” (paper) to crawl around and create paintings like the one you see here.

Two other open houses are planned this summer at the Bohart (see separate listings):

  • Saturday, July 22 — Moth Night! This event from 8 to 11 p.m. will come amid National Moth Week.
  • Sunday, Aug. 27 — Bark Beetles and Trees: Forest Health in California, 1-4 p.m.
