Reiki, Level I

This workshop will demonstrate the use of reiki as a technique for relaxation, stress reduction and pain management. This type of touch therapy can be used as an adjunctive tool to alter the perception of pain. This class will include the demonstration and return demonstration of the reiki exercises and how to use reiki to improve patient comfort. Out of consideration for others, please refrain from using perfumes, cologne, or other strong fragrant products.

Pediatric Cardiac Core, Day 1

The goal of the Pediatric Cardiac Core series is to enhance the knowledge amongst attendees on the care of the post-operative pediatric cardiac patient. Participants may register for one or both days. Topics to be covered include:

Day 1: Overview of EKG Rhythms, use of pacemakers, drips and drugs utilized in the post-op cardiac patient, transition from the OR to PCICU, effects of cardiopulmonary bypass, deep hypothermia and circulatory arrest, intracardiac lines, echo for bedside nurses and repair of acynotic common heart defects.

Pediatric Cardiac Core, Day 2

The goal of the Pediatric Cardiac Core series is to enhance the knowledge amongst attendees on the care of the post-operative pediatric cardiac patient. Participants may register for one or both days. Topics to be covered include:

Day 2: Overview of acyanotic defects, rhythms and inotropic drugs, cyanotic defect identification surgery and potential post-op problems, functional single ventricle physiology and surgery, fast-track extubation, supportive post-op therapies, interstage cardiac catheterization, and discharge teaching for the post-op CT surgery patient.
