Surgeon General: “Opioids and Better Health Through Better Partnerships”

In this public talk, the surgeon general encourages physicians, nurses, public health specialists, and government and community organizations to leverage their powerful resources to prevent and treat opioid use disorder, which he has declared a public health emergency.

"The Humanitarian Crisis at the U.S.-Mexico Border: A Deeper Dive From Diverse Lenses"

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (pictured) gives the opening keynote in this program that also includes two panels:

  • An Overview of the Current Situation, with Holly Cooper, co-director, Immigration Law Clinic, UC Davis School of Law, among the participants; and Liliana Ferrer Silva, consul general of Mexico in Sacramento, as the moderator.
  • Impact Beyond the Border and Our Role, with Professor Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, director, UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities, among the participants.
Symposium will open with registration and lunch (11:30 a.m.-noon), and close with a group discussion, "Next Steps — Where Do We Go From Here?" (3:30-4 p.m.), followed by a reception until 6 p.m. Register here.

This is the first symposium in the Office for Equity, Diversion and Inclusion's Diversity and Inclusion Dialogue Series.
